Finding your passion and purpose in life is often easier said than done. Maybe we find ourselves unmotivated after being stuck in a routine, or maybe we’re given conflicting advice.
It’s easy to get discouraged or feel unsure about where our true passions lie. If you’ve ever been in this situation, know that you’re not alone. Below we’re sharing some tips to help you find your passion and purpose if you’re not sure what you want to do in life.
1. Find your mission
When all is said and done, what do you want to be known for? Your mission will always trace back to your passion, and help you find purpose.
If you still feel stuck, you can always look to the past. Unleash your inner child, or your inner adolescent that was filled with curiosity. Reconnect with the version of yourself that wasn’t weighed down with insecurities or external opinions. You’ll likely find a mission, or at least a goal that will lead you to one.
2. List out the things you love
Many people feel lost because they think that their passions need to be thrilling or groundbreaking. You don’t need to make extreme sports your hobby to find a passion. You can fill your list with simple pleasures like taking walks in nature or making a home cooked meal. Even the smallest tasks can lead to a bigger picture.
3. Consider your skills, values & achievements
Next, combine the things you love with your skills and values. Note down the skills you’re best at, your biggest accomplishments, and the traits or actions you care most about. This will help give you a clearer vision of what you want to do.
4. Explore new opportunities
There’s nothing like trying something new to reignite your joy for life. Many of us lose sight of our passions when we feel like we’re stuck in a rut. Exploring new opportunities will bring feelings of hope and excitement back into your soul.
5. Take notes
Begin a journaling practice. It will serve as your source of inspiration and accountability. You can revisit your notes whenever you are feeling lost or demotivated.
6. Have fun!
They always say that if you find a job you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. Finding your passion should never feel like a chore. Take it easy and find what feels right.
We hope these tips have inspired you to find your passion!
